CLASS
DESCRIPTIONS
Discovery
(6 months - 3 years)
Max: 12 students
A parent/caregiver and child discover the water together
in this instructor led class. This class is designed to
help children become more comfortable in and around the
water as well as give parents/caregivers information and
techniques to help orient their children in the water.
Lots of singing, games and encouragement are the main
focus of this class. Requirements: A parents or caregiver
must be in the water with the child during the class.
Level 1
(3
years +)
Max:
6 students
This class is a basic introduction to water skills and
is designed to help students feel comfortable in the water
and to enjoy water safety. Students develop good attitudes
and safe practices around the water. Prerequisites:
Child must be able to particiapte without help of a parent
or guardian.
Level 2
Max:
6 students
This class emphasizes successful development of fundamental
aquatics skills. Students learn to float without support
and recover to a vertical position. Students also explore
simultaneous and alternating arem and leg movements on
front and back, laying ground work for future stroke development.
Prerequisites:
Child must be willing to get face (eyes, ears, and nose)
wet and be comfortable on his/her front and back in the
water - OR - Child has successfully completed Level 1.
Level 3
Max:
8 students
This class focuses on stroke development. Students learn
hot to coordinate front and back crawl and are introduced
to the elements of butterfly, treading water, and seated
diving.
Prerequisites:
Child must be comfortable in water over his/her head and
comfortable swimming on his/her back - OR - Child has
successfully completed Level 2.
